Mind Control Tips
Mind control is a method developed by José Silva that lets you influence your subconscious while your brain is in the alpha state.
To understand the method, it helps to know the following. In terms of the brain's electrical activity, it can be in different states:
- Awake, alert, active state — Beta waves (15-40 Hz)
- Calm, relaxed state — Alpha waves (8-14 Hz)
- Light sleep — Theta waves (3.5-7 Hz)
- Deep sleep — Delta waves (below 3.5 Hz)
Effective communication with your subconscious requires at least two conditions:
- Your brainwave frequency needs to be in the so-called alpha range, 8-14 Hz.
- Thoughts need to be expressed in the form of images — that is, through imagination — because that's the only way they can get through to the subconscious.
If these conditions aren't met, the change you want either won't happen, or only in a very limited way.
Let's look briefly at how you can get into the alpha state:
Get into a comfortable position — ideally lying down calmly with your eyes closed.
Take deep breaths using your belly. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Make the exhale twice as long as the inhale. Do 10 of these deep belly breaths. This sufficiently boosts your oxygen supply, which creates a good foundation for what comes next. Then start counting backward from 100 to 1. You can shorten this by ten each day — start from 90 on the second day, then 80, and so on. The goal is that, with enough practice, you'll be able to reach the alpha state with your eyes closed by counting back from just 10. Counting backward matters too — it takes attention, it can't become automatic. That way you're less likely to drift off into some other thought, since your own thoughts can still distract you at this stage. After some practice, you'll drop into the alpha state right at the end of the countdown. It's not especially difficult, so there's no need to overcomplicate it — but its effect is completely different from the waking state.
If you fall asleep while counting at first, that's not a problem either, since it's very easy to slip into the theta state, which is essentially the state of sleep. The role of the images — dreams — that appear in the theta and then delta states, during sleep and deep sleep, could be analyzed too, but we'll leave that aside for now.
Once you're in the alpha state, your subconscious becomes directly accessible to you.
What can you do with this state?
In the alpha state, you can send a message to your subconscious in the form of images. We call this process visualization.
The key is to see, in images, what you want to achieve, right in front of you.
Here's an example of alpha-level visualization from my book, "The Boundless Power of Your Subconscious – Subconscious Control," for a case where you're suffering from an energy deficit and, because of it, you're afraid of your problems, so you don't dare — meaning you can't — solve them:
"(...) Drop down to the alpha level, and picture energy production starting up in your cells, while at the same time the universe's life-giving energy flows into you from the outside world. Then visualize the problems weighing on you as huge, dark mountains looming ahead of you, and really feel the fear those problems stir up in you. Then picture those mountains gradually shifting, opening a path between them, with light shining at the end of it. It grows brighter and brighter around you, the path widens, and it leads straight ahead. The mountains grow smaller and smaller, soon just hills, which gradually disappear. The horizon widens ahead of you, and brilliant sunshine replaces the darkness. Feel the sun's rays filling you with warmth and energy, and in the deep silence, clearly feel the clear, light presence of your subconscious mind. The tall mountains — the problems — first became hills, and now even those have completely disappeared. Darkness has given way to light. Feel the fear inside you shrinking, then disappearing. Before long you won't even understand why you saw that problem as so enormous, when it was really nothing at all. Gradually return to the waking state. If you then recall the problem that used to weigh on you and it still worries you, repeat the exercise again later.
The most important thing: picture yourself becoming bigger than your problem.
You tower over your problem, and the problem grows smaller and smaller. Once you can visualize, vividly and intensely enough, that you are literally bigger than the problem, you're ready. Then picture your inner energy flowing freely inside you, now independent of any blocking factor. You've recharged, and so you're able to sense the universe's outer energy, which flows into you as love and takes the place of fear. You've freed yourself from the fear caused by your energy deficit, and from there you can calmly continue on your way. Every task still ahead of you no longer feels like an effort or a strain, because there's nothing left to fight against. The problem is gone, so there's nothing left to overcome.
You go on doing what you do, as always — the only thing that's changed is that, in your subconscious mind, you've stripped the problem of its problematic nature (...)"
In the book, I walk through countless examples of the incredible effects you can achieve with visualization done in the brain's alpha state.
